Knott End Match Report 2024
The fourth event of the Parrots 2024 calendar took place at Knott End GC. The day was fine but very breezy to say the least!! 20 players made the day which was a replacement for Grange as that course was still under water from the rain that has poured for most of the year to that point!
There were some good scores on the day, although not as good as those when the tour last visited Knott End in 2021 where this year’s winning score would only have been good enough for a share of 7th place!
Paul Fineman won the 2nd group out with his 31pts although it was his playing partner Andy Nurse who took the NTP prize for the 11th. Note to self, we must get some bigger NTP markers that can be seen from the tee in order to avoid the embarrassment of false celebrations on the tee only for those celebrations to be crushed when I reach the green!!
Ian Benson was the victor in the first group out with 33pts, also taking the NTP prize on the 8th, despite Mike’s attempts to sabotage him by shouting to Gareth as Ian was taking his first tee shot!
My group was 5th out and this was won by the mercurial Frank Healey with 34pts, who, but for a run of 3 blobs in 5 holes around the turn could have notched himself the victory, but still took home the 3rd place prize.
Second overall was the winner of the group third out. Steve Inghams 35pts was enough to see off Tony Robbo’s 32pts. Well done Steve.
But, the day saw a home winner in the shape of Yorkshire leftie Gareth Lunn in the 4th group out with an unbeaten 36pts. Gareth had a 20pt back nine which was mostly into the wind, so well done Gareth on a great score in the conditions.
