Twelve players turned up on a beautiful day at Whitefield. It was nice to see the return of John Patt. Only the former feisty firefighter turned up from the Fleetwood four (unfortunately there was no fish to deliver). Of the others, one was in the USA, the other two visiting the local NHS with golf related injuries.
The morning draw was made and before going onto the course, the players were being warned of the dangers of raking bunkers.
Back to the clubhouse after the morning 9 holes, everyone sat outside in the sunshine enjoying a pint and some lovely food. During the conversation, Glenn’s back injury came up. Someone suggested (not me Glenn) it could have been caused by having his wallet in his back pocket.
Anyhow, the draw was made for the afternoon 4 balls. After applying more sun tan lotion we proceeded to the course. I was playing with Pete Kev and Tom. Kev had a great idea, spend most of your time in the shade looking for your ball in the trees.
Anyhow, to the boring stuff, golf. After returning to the clubhouse gasping for a pint, the Chuckle Brothers (Geoff & Mel), who by the way did a great job, declared the winners.
The morning was won by Pete Whiteside with 18pts. The afternoon was also won by Pete Whiteside with 36pts. But you all know, ‘it is what it is’.
Tom and Mel tied for second place but Mel won on a card play off (Back 9).
Anyhow, hope to see you all at West Derby on 17/7. We may even see Mike and Glenn. Was that a pig flying over my head?
